Module 1

In this first module, we’ll discuss learning management systems, online learning, learning styles and differentiation, theories and philosophers, and what adults need for successful learning. We’ll examine qualities of a successful online educator, student expectations, differences between classroom and online teaching, strategies and suggestions for online educators, and tips for transitioning a course to an online format.

Module 2

In this second module, we’ll examine course design regarding suggested components, look at various methods to create tutorials, discuss copyright free images (and citations/attributions), examine goals and objectives, and dissect a web address to ensure we provide reliable, authentic, and timely web sites for online readings. We’ll also discuss using scholarly articles from databases, how the web has advanced our relationship to online learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and plagiarism.

Module 3

In the first part of this module, we’ll examine ludology (learning through game play), experimenting with and creating interactive activities that can be merged with a theological studies curriculum. In the second part of this module, we’ll discuss drafting a syllabus, Zoom, webinars, and webcams. We’ll look at various methods to communicate in an online environment, social networking, file share, and educational apps from Google and Apple.

Module 4

In this module, we’ll discuss the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) including ethical issues surrounding online classes, we’ll look at strategies to encourage students to read content, discuss exit surveys for students, and we’ll examine student views in an LMS, assessing, grading, and evaluating, adult behavior issues, and grouping in the online environment.
